The Regional Arts Triennial 3 (RAT3) is a statewide contemporary arts program connecting regional communities, artists and audiences across Western Australia through a series of locally curated exhibitions, events and conversations. Guided by the theme Radical Futures, the Triennial explores how art can help us imagine new possibilities for our communities, environments and collective futures during a time of rapid social, cultural and environmental change. Led by Lead Curator Sarah Roots, the program highlights the strength, diversity and creativity of regional Western Australia through locally grounded artistic and curatorial practices.
Spanning 2025-2026, the Triennial includes 13 regional exhibitions across Western Australia, bringing together 154 participating artists and 32 curators in one of the state’s most ambitious regional arts programs. Through exhibitions, workshops, artist talks and community events, RAT3 is expected to engage more than 10,000 audience members across regional and metropolitan WA. The program will culminate in a major survey exhibition and summit at John Curtin Gallery in 2026, showcasing selected works from across the state and creating opportunities for connection, reflection and exchange between regional arts practitioners and audiences.
Below you can explore upcoming exhibitions, events and key Triennial updates. For full program details and the latest news, please visit the Regional Arts Triennial 3 website.

Survey Exhibition
The Regional Arts Triennial 3 Survey Exhibition will bring together selected works from across the 13 regional exhibitions into a major statewide showcase at John Curtin Gallery in 2026. Featuring approximately 49 selected artists drawn from 154 participating artists across the state, the exhibition offers audiences the opportunity to experience the breadth, diversity and creativity of the Radical Futures program in one location. The survey exhibition highlights the strength of regional artistic practice and the many conversations emerging across communities throughout Western Australia.
WA Regional Visual Arts Summit
WA Regional Visual Arts Summit will take place alongside the survey exhibition at John Curtin Gallery in September 2026, bringing together artists, curators, cultural workers, organisations and communities from across regional and metropolitan Western Australia. Through talks, discussions, presentations and networking opportunities, the summit aims to foster connection, knowledge-sharing and conversations around the future of regional arts practice, collaboration and community engagement.
