Step into an illuminated magical garden and find your perfect listening spot to experience curious sounds, rhythmic beats, virtuosic live piano, and meandering rivers of poetry. You’ll be entranced by this one-of-a-kind, relaxed performance installation that the whole family can enjoy together, or you can enjoy with just yourself.
Piano Room is conceived and composed by award-winning composer Corrina Bonshek (best contemporary classical composition 2022 Queensland Music Awards) who is known for her immersive, nature-inspired music that’s ‘sonically attractive’ (Loudmouth 2020), ‘meditative’ (Journal of Music 2021) and reminiscent of Ludovico Einaudi and Nils Frahm.
This sonic experience is co-created, voice acted and written by the mesmeric, multi-award-winning actor-playwright Merlynn Tong.
It is performed by Roger Cui, one Australia’s leading pianists (Guest Principal Soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Principle Pianist with the Queensland Ballet).
Roger has been described as “a pianist with not only extraordinary technique, but also poeticism in depth” (Badische Neueste Nachrichten). Corrina Bonshek & Collaborators create music-led experiences that provoke wonder at the beauty of nature, the cosmos and humanity. Their ability to create
shows that transcend time is unmatched.
