Commissioned by the AWESOME Festival in partnership with the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts(WAAPA) experience the joy and wonder of the ballet with these two specially produced shows for children and their adults. Including direction from renowned choreographerAndries Weidemann and an original score by award-winner composer Dr Emma Jayakumar, experience the classical tale ofLittle Red Riding Hoodlike you’ve never seen it before alongside the original and quintessentially Australian story ofThe Lost Little Llama.
Little Red Riding Hood is traditionally a cautionary tale about listening to your parents and being careful of strangers, but in this gorgeous retelling little Red is empowered to take matters into her own hands. Join her in her battle against Wolf as she tries to save Granny and herself from being eaten, told in the glorious classical ballet form and brimming with surprising twists and turns. With a hippy Granny, a “vegetarian” Wolf and an overly confident huntsman, Little Red has her work cut out for her in this funny and heart-warming story for the whole family!Commissioned for the 2023 AWESOME Festival, this captivating production weaves classical ballet, poetry, and song together. Choreographed by Andries Weidemann and set to an original score by Emma Jayakumar, the performance features talented Western AustralianAcademy of Performing Arts dancers with enchanting vocals by Robert Hoffmann and Caitlin Cassidy
