The Open Borders 2023 Regional Visual Arts Summit is a dynamic and interactive gathering of arts practitioners from across the State to be held in Boorloo (Perth) from 11-13 August 2023.
Presented by ART ON THE MOVE, John Curtin Gallery & Southern Forest Arts, the event brings together over 70 delegates from across regional WA for PD, networking and creative exchange.
Day 1, 3 and 4 are linked closely to the Open Borders survey exhibition at John Curtin Gallery. Day 2 is wider in scope and explores the regional visual arts sector more broadly.

A highlight of the Summit will be the opening of the Open Borders exhibition at John Curtin Gallery. This greatly anticipated show represents a selective survey of the 12 interconnected regional exhibitions under the Open Borders theme held across the State during 2022-23.

The deadline for applications for Round 1 & 2 travel bursaries has now closed. 70 lucky recipients from across the state will be supported to attend the event.

Regional Arts Network, Regional Arts WA, GalleriesWest and Australian Museums and Galleries Association (WA).
Regional Arts WA and Regional Arts Australia through the Regional Arts Fund has supported travel bursaries. These funds have been made available from the Government of Australia. ART ON THE MOVE have provided funds from the Regional Exhibition Touring Boost, an initiative of the WA Government. Bursary coordination has been managed by Southern Forest Arts.
In order for the Summit to be relevant and meaningful to delegates and the broader sector we sought input from a diverse array of voices in event planning.
