2021 Theme: Voice
Each year we have a thematic curatorial concept for the overall program that helps connect the various elements across artforms, artists and venues. In the 2021-23 period we are experimenting with allocating a core ‘sense’ to serve as foundation for curatorial choices. In 2021 we are focusing upon ‘sight’, in 2022 ‘sound’ and have proposed ‘movement’ for 2023.
2021 PROGRAM
CORE SENSE: SOUND
CORE THEME: VOICE
INTERROGATION: How do we express ourselves? What do we choose to say and not say? Can we speak with our bodies and not just our words? Who and/or what is without voice? How does our experience of life mould the lens through which we express ourselves?

The Alternative Archive - MIX exhibition is a touring show from Mix Artists Albany (an Artist Run Initiative from the Great Southern). The show is the first partnership project between SFA and MIX. Held concurrently with John Curtin Gallery's regional survey of the same name, it will enjoy cross-promotional opportunities and provide participating artists access to an
