Artist, Gemma Ben-Ary is our Understory Artist in Residence next week. She’ll be creating a new sculpture to replace her 2007 sculpture, ‘Bower’.
Of the original artwork, Gemma said “I’m inspired by forms made by little creatures who use instinct to create – manipulating humble materials.
“Bower was one of our original ephemeral sculptures along the Understory trail. Created from sticks salvaged from the forest floor it was reminiscent of a giant bird’s bower. Half of the structure was destroyed by storm several years ago.
Southern Forest Arts are really looking forward to seeing a new Bower emerge through Gemma’s astute crafting.
